LIC Arts Open, the biggest art festival in Long Island City will start this Saturday, May 12, running through May 20 (http://www.licartsopen.org/licao-2012/). Resobox is one of its official venues and participate in some events during the festival. Enso is a Japanese word meaning circle, with a concept associated with Zen. It is a symbol of wholeness and cyclic return, leading to enlightenment, the universe and the void. This circle can also sometimes be described as a mirror of its painters - reflecting who you are and what you think or feel now, as you paint it.

The minimum expression of this artwork gives you a good opportunity to look back at yourself, and even to find your true self. Be honestly who you are, and draw your own circle.

In order to Join this project,

There are two menus for the party.
1. Tuna cha-shu mazemen
2. Uni (sea urchin) miso mazemen

Closing Party at 7:30 pm – Maneuvering Margins by Justin Baldwin

I received cute 12 astrological signs in the Zodiac from Ms. Akane Ogura (Instructor of Japanese Character Design workshop).

I want to show all of them now, but since this is Zodiac sign, I am going to go one by one each month.

Here is Capricornus (8"x10" - Mixed media).
Capricorns are born between December 22 and January 19.

In Iaido workshop, a martial artist, Ms. Deborah is explaining how the Seichuto (勢中刀 - the 9th Kata of the first set in Omoriryu) works with her student. In the first strike, as described in the photo, you cut through your opponent's wrist before being attacked by him.

Under the instructions of Ayakoh, students are going to learn techniques of tip of brush while drawing the Japanese Manga with ink a couple months later.
