It didn’t take long after I moved from a cramped apartment I couldn’t afford on Manhattan’s Upper East Side to a friend’s house in Astoria, a highly cultural yet homely neighborhood in Queens, that I began to notice that my surroundings had become more Japanese. January 4, 2012 at 9:18 pm I received cute 12 astrological signs in the Zodiac from Ms. Akane Ogura (Instructor of Japanese Character Design workshop).

January 2, 2012 at 2:33 pm In Iaido workshop, a martial artist, Ms. Deborah is explaining how the Seichuto (勢中刀 - the 9th Kata of the first set in Omoriryu) works with her student. In the first strike, as described in the photo, you cut through your opponent's wrist before being attacked by him.
December 29, 2011 at 10:45 pm A funny picture from Ayakoh (instructor of the ink-painting workshop). A monkey with a dollar bill is chased by a rabbit and a frog. The idea comes from Japanese old Manga from the mid-12th century, Chojyu-Giga. You can see the original picture at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C5%8Dj%C5%AB-jinbutsu-giga. Under the instructions of Ayakoh, students are going to learn techniques of tip of brush while drawing the Japanese Manga with ink a couple months later.
Again, tomorrow is the last day you can try our workshops for free for your first time.

December 21, 2011 at 3:28 pm Here is a Justin's Yakatabune which used to be a private boat for Japanese nobles for their parties, but nowadays it is for everybody, having a party in such a small space with nice atmosphere only among close friends.
I really like his Yakatabune. It has wings, which is futuristic, but at the same time it remains retrospective. Unlike a luxury liner, the small boat doesn't have a big capacity, but the limitation makes you focus more on where you really want to go and what you really need on the journey of your happy life. I'm wondering what Justin put inside the boat.
December 16, 2011 at 12:49 pm Somebody is working at midnight........
