SUMMARY:Mizuhiki: Japanese Decorative Knots - Jewelry Making
DESCRIPTION:Over the course of this 2-hour in-person workshop\, you will experience the traditional Japanese art of mizuhiki through hands-on practice and quiet\, mindful creation. \n\nSelect your mizuhiki cords and colors\nBegin by choosing from a selection of colors. The tones you are drawn to may reflect your mood that day\, or perhaps carry a thought for someone special you wish to gift your creation to.\nCreate the fundamental “Awaji-musubi” knot using three cords\nStarting with three mizuhiki cords\, you will gently form the Awaji-musubi\, one of the most essential and meaningful knot forms in Japanese tradition. Along the way\, you will also learn the meaning behind its name\, “Awaji\,” and its cultural significance.\nExplore variations as you gain confidence\nIf you feel comfortable\, you may experiment with additional strands to create slightly more intricate compositions. If time allows\, you are also welcome to try “Ume-musubi\,” a graceful variation developed from Awaji-musubi with just two additional steps.\nTransform your piece into wearable art\nOnce your knot is complete\, you will choose how to finish your creation. Options include earrings or a necklace. Traditional Japanese netsuke-style cords are also available\, allowing you to turn your piece into a charm if you prefer.\n\nIf this experience sparks a deeper curiosity about the world of mizuhiki\, it may open the door to further exploration of more intricate forms and techniques in the future. \nExperience a calm\, mindful process where simple cords are transformed into elegant\, wearable art—carrying both personal meaning and timeless Japanese aesthetics. \n  \n\n\n$60 / person \nAll materials included \n\nReserve Your Spot \n\nPLEASE NOTE: The class sign up deadline is 72 hours before the class begins. Cancellation after this period will NOT be refunded. \n\nLearn more about Mizuhiki class at RESOBOX \nView class page → \n
