SUMMARY:Nerikiri Wagashi: Japanese Sculpted Confectionery – Cosmos\, Bellflower\, and Ball Chrysanthemum
DESCRIPTION:The instructor: Yuki Sakura \nIn this session\, we will create three nerikiri designs that welcome the turn of the season: cosmos\, bellflower (kikyo)\, and ball chrysanthemum (tamagiku). In September\, the cosmos sways lightly in the breeze\, the bellflower adds quiet elegance with its deep-violet\, star-shaped petals\, and the tamagiku begins to reveal its round\, layered fullness as the early autumn season gently unfolds. \nThis workshop offers more than the joy of tasting Wagashi — it gives you the experience of creating edible art with your own hands. Simple hand movements such as pressing\, pinching\, and layering transform into moments of artistic expression. Through this hands-on experience\, you will discover the unique beauty of Japanese food culture. \nAt the end of the class\, you’ll take home the nerikiri sweets you lovingly crafted yourself. I hope you’ll share them with your family and friends\, revisiting the stories and moments from the workshop as you admire and enjoy the sweets you created with your own hands. \n  \n\n\n$90 / person \nAll materials included \n\nReserve Your Spot \n\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes 48 hours before the session. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the session are nonrefundable. \n\nLearn more about Wagashi class at RESOBOX \nView class page → \n

SUMMARY:Kumiko Woodworking: Japanese Joinery – Flower Vase (Ichirin-zashi)
DESCRIPTION:For our Kumiko Woodworking class on September 26th\, you’ll build the ichirin-zashi — a hanging wooden flower vase. \nYou’ll first learn what kumiko is\, then practice all three foundation patterns — asa-no-ha (hemp leaf)\, rindō (gentian)\, and goma (sesame). You’ll build each one in the same practice frame and take it apart to try the next\, then keep the single pattern you like best. Finally\, you’ll use what you’ve learned to design your own arrangement inside the ichirin-zashi flower vase\, which has a clear acrylic back that doubles as a display stand. \nNo experience is necessary\nTake home the flower vase you designed \nAll kits are handcrafted by Ōminato Bunkichi Shoten\, a kumiko atelier in Niigata\, Japan. Space is limited\, so early registration is recommended. \n\n\n$80 / person \nAll materials included \n\nReserve Your Spot \n\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes 2 hours before the session. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the session are nonrefundable. \n\nLearn more about the Kumiko Woodworking class at RESOBOX \nView class page

SUMMARY:Wasanbon Wagashi: Japanese Pressed-Sugar Confectionery
DESCRIPTION:The instructor: Yuki Sakura \nThis session steps away from nerikiri and into the world of wasanbon — a traditional Japanese sugar known for its delicate sweetness and fine\, smooth texture. Refined by hand in Shikoku through techniques passed down for generations\, wasanbon carries a light\, elegant flavor that reflects the quiet beauty of Japanese culinary culture. \nThis workshop offers more than the chance to taste wasanbon — it invites you to enjoy shaping it with your own hands. Pressing the sugar into a carved wooden mold\, packing it firmly\, and gently releasing it are simple movements\, yet each one becomes a moment of artistic expression. As you work\, you will discover the character of wasanbon and the subtle grace found in Japanese confectionery traditions. \nThere is no baking and no experience is needed — everything is prepared in advance\, so you can simply walk into the classroom and make sweets. \nAt the end of the class\, you’ll take home the wasanbon sweets you crafted with care. I hope you’ll share them with your family and friends\, recalling the moments from the workshop as you admire and enjoy the confections shaped by your own hands. \n  \n\n\n$65 / person \nAll materials included \n\nReserve Your Spot \n\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes 48 hours before the session. SUMMARY:Virtual Ikebana class – Misho Style
DESCRIPTION:Classes will be held via the Zoom Video Conferencing application\, a private Zoom link will be sent to participants before the class begins. The classes will be held in Eastern Time. \n  \nA few things you will need before the class: \n1. You will need to find your own flowers. We are sorry that we are unable to deliver flowers to your home (try calling around; some local shops will deliver). But any flowers are OK! Just make sure to get 2-3 varieties\, and choose what you like. We don’t need a lot. \n2. You will need clippers or scissors that you don’t mind using to cut flower stems. \n3. A vase. If you don’t have a vase\, you can use a glass\, a coffee cup\, a cereal bowl\, or your choice of container\, as long as it has a little depth. You might even surprise yourself with how nice a non-traditional vase can look with a cute arrangement of flowers. \n*If you have your own Kenzan\, Flower Pin\, or Pin Frog\, you can use it. And if you want to buy one\, you can order on Amazon online. \nIn this class\, we will check each student’s tools and flowers\, then help you with tips on how to build up and create your own Ikebana arrangement. \n  \n\n\n$30 / person \nMaterials not included — please bring your own (see the list above) \n\nReserve Your Spot \n\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes 24 hours before the session. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the session are nonrefundable. \n\nLearn more about Virtual Ikebana class at RESOBOX \nView class page →
