In May 2024, in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, RESOBOX was invited by global beauty brand Estée Lauder to provide a sumi-e (Japanese ink painting) class for their employees.
This month is a crucial opportunity to spread awareness of the cultures and traditions of the Asia-Pacific region within American society. In alignment with this goal, Estée Lauder sought to give its employees the chance to experience Japanese culture firsthand.
During the sumi-e class, participants engaged with traditional Japanese art, learning to express nature and emotions through the delicate gradations of ink. Many of the attendees were trying sumi-e for the first time, and while they were initially surprised by the subtle movements required for brushwork, they were drawn to the depth and beauty of the art. This class also provided a unique opportunity for employees to connect with one another, fostering bonds that transcend cultural boundaries.
Estée Lauder values diversity and actively incorporates traditions and arts from around the world. This class was part of their initiative to nurture diversity and creativity, and RESOBOX is proud to support such efforts.
