On February 26, 2024, RESOBOX exhibited products from shiitake wholesaler Sugimoto Shiitake at the “Kyushu and Yamaguchi Food and Sake Export Trade Show 2024.” At this event, held at the Japanese restaurant Zuma in New York, we presented “Shiitake Sushi,” made from shiitake mushrooms and seasoned to cater to vegans, which garnered significant attention from the attendees.
RESOBOX supports the expansion of Sugimoto Shoten’s dried shiitake mushrooms and powder products from Miyazaki Prefecture into the U.S. market. Typically, we introduce these products to non-Japanese restaurants and retail stores locally. Participating in this event, which was attended by many Japanese restaurant stakeholders, led to new encounters and insights.
Additionally, we had the opportunity to reconnect with owners and chefs from Japanese restaurants in the New York area that regularly purchase Sugimoto Shoten’s products. We had meaningful discussions about new possibilities for shiitake mushrooms.
At this event, we served vegan shiitake sushi to the attendees, who were surprised by its unique flavor and high quality. Moving forward, RESOBOX will continue to find new ways to introduce different audiences to the nutritional value and rich flavor of shiitake mushrooms and promote the U.S. expansion of Sugimoto Shoten’s products through events like this one.
