Nerikiri Wagashi: Japanese Sculpted Confectionery – Morning Glory, Fireworks, and Sunflower

August 23 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Nerikiri wagashi designs for morning glory, fireworks, and sunflower

The instructor: Yuki Sakura

In this session, we will create three types of Nerikiris inspired by the breath of midsummer—Morning glory, Fireworks, and Sunflower. The morning glory that blooms with a cool elegance in the quiet morning light, the sunflower lifting its face boldly toward the summer sun, and the burst of fireworks that paints the night sky in vivid color. Enjoy shaping each of these shimmering moments of summer gently in the palms of our hands.

This workshop offers more than the joy of tasting Wagashi — it gives you the experience of creating edible art with your own hands. Simple hand movements such as pressing, pinching, and layering transform into moments of artistic expression. Through this hands-on experience, you will discover the unique beauty of Japanese food culture.

At the end of the class, you’ll take home the Nerikiris you lovingly crafted yourself. I hope you’ll share them with your family and friends, revisiting the stories and moments from the workshop as you admire and enjoy the sweets you created with your own hands.
