Event Overview
We chose premium Roasted tea and Genmai tea from famous tea producing regions of Japan. We want guests to taste the “aroma” before the actual taste. This tasting event will be once in a lifetime experience for any tea fan! Japanese tea is not only Matcha, Sencha, and Gyokuro. Can you imagine the taste of tea when tea masters use their professional techniques of roasting and blending? At this event, you would definitely experience the difference of aroma and taste.
Roasted Tea
The aroma of Roasted tea will remind you of a delicious coffee-like roasting aroma as only high quality tea stems can leave you with clear after-tastes. Usually, when you drink a cup of a normal roasted tea, there will be bitterness left on your tongue. However, our teas have an elegant sweetness using special techniques during the roasting of the tea leaves.
Despite green tea having a large amount of caffeine, roasted tea surprisingly does not. So you can enjoy drinking it even before going to bed. It is also safe for children to drink roasted tea.
Genmai cha
The other main tea in this event will be Genmai cha. Genmai-cha is usually made of coarse tea and roasted brown rice. Coarse tea is made of old leaves and hard tea stalks that are picked late season. Most bottled tea in Japan are made from coarse tea and it is popular for ordinary families to drink it every day. Also, most of tea makers use leftover or damaged brown rice which are first sold for boiled rice purposes. However, we serve you high quality Genmai-cha this time. These tea are made of high grade roasted tea, and brown rice which are carefully cropped for tea purposing. For our brown rice, we use specially selected non-glutinous rice and glutinous rice. Both teas have been known to be exceptionally good combinations to meals. We will prepare food pairings with finger food and Japanese traditional sweets called “Wagashi.”
You may or may not have tried Genmai-cha before, but we definitely know you will enjoy the outstanding aroma and sweetness.
Hoji cha
Roasted tea is made of Sen cha (the most commonly consumed tea in Japan), Kuki cha (the term “Kuki” means “stem”) and coarse tea. We roasted these kinds of tea to bring out a pleasant aroma similar to the taste of coffee.
We will serve special roasted tea at this event. The tea is made from carefully picked stems of the first tea leaves harvested of the year. They have strong roasted sweet aroma, but the after taste is super clear.
Prime Roasted Tea
This roasted tea is made from leaves and stems which are the first picked of the year and carefully roasted. The main characteristic of Prime Roasted Tea is its sweet roasted aroma and clear taste. The stem has a bloated shape. This roasted tea is caffeine free, so you can drink it during the evening, as so for small children.
Marubi
This caffeine-free tea is made by slowly roasting the tea stems to take full advantage of their inherent sweetness. Only the sweetest tea stems are carefully selected before being slowly roasted. By heating the stems evenly and all the way through to the core, the caffeine can be drawn out while preserving the sweetness. This was tea created so that both parents and toddlers could drink tea together.
Star and Cherry Blossom Roasted Brown Rice Tea
The owdered high quality green tea leaves and small rice crackers provide a crispy aroma. This tea is very beneficial to health since the tea leaves are edible.
Prime Roasted Brown Rice Tea
We blended sen cha (middle grade green tea) with non-glutinous rice. In addition to well-balanced sweetness and bitterness, you can enjoy the highly roasted smell. This tea will make you relaxed when you take a sip!
Yame Matcha Roasted Brown Rice Tea
We blended high grade green tea, non-glutinous rice and glutinous rice and to create a crispy aroma. The beautiful green color comes from the grinded matcha powder added to the tea. In addition, there are two different kinds of sweet flavors in the tea, the sweetness of green tea and the sweetness of brown rice. The after-taste is particularly refreshing. This tea also suits for Ochazukei, a tea over rice Japanese cuisine.
