Workshop Overview
Learn how to cook wholesome filling Japanese foods that help promote clearing your body and mind in this hands-on & fun session!
Is it time for a detox yet? Spring is known to be a natural time to clear away toxins so the body can reboot after a long, sluggish winter. In this class, we will cook tasty Japanese foods that are clean yet filling that can help clear your mind & body.
To achieve the detox effect, we will cook with fresh organic produce and other ingredients free of:
- Animal-based products
- Gluten
- Sugar
- Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
- Alcohol
Students will learn how to cook with Japanese ancient superfood miso and tofu. Fermented foods like miso add beneficial bacteria (known as probiotics) and enzymes to your overall intestinal flora, increasing the health of your gut microbiome and digestive system and enhancing the immune system and promote the detox.
My approach in detox is to promote eating whole, nutritious and satisfying meals prepared with ingredients that help steer clear toxins from your body. This is not a typical lemony water with Cayenne pepper or liquid only juice cleanse which can be hard to stick with or costly to continue doing.
In this class participants will learn to cook and eat this 4 course meal and here are the ingredients to be featured;
- Miso soup: Cabbage, scallions, red miso, kelp, shiitake. **You will learn how to make plant-based broth using kelp and shiitake
- Inari sushi: Brown rice, Inari pocket (tofu skin), broccoli, mushrooms, hijiki, carrots
- Miso-glazed tofu steak: Firm tofu, miso, tamari (GF soy sauce), asian sesame oil
- Very berry tofu mousse: Silken tofu, strawberries, raspberries, maple syrup
