Two kimekomi Daruma dolls, one traditional red and one in Google's logo colors, made at a RESOBOX workshop

RESOBOX brought its kimekomi doll-making workshop to Google's New York office. It was our first kimekomi session there, and one participant even finished a Daruma in Google's own logo colors.

Participants chose from five beginner-friendly designs (Daruma, frog, owl, jizo and temari) and picked freely from dozens of chirimen (Japanese crepe silk) fabrics we bring from Japan, so no two dolls came out alike.

Watching a room full of people spend two quiet, focused hours shaping a single small piece is exactly why every RESOBOX workshop is hands-on. Once you have made something yourself, Japanese craftsmanship never looks quite the same again.

RESOBOX offers private Japanese cultural workshops for companies and teams (kimekomi, ikebana, mizuhiki, sumi-e and more) at our East Village studio or on-site at your office.
