RESOBOX Hosts Hioki Matcha and Chin Jukan Tea Ceremony at Globus Washitsu

RESOBOX hosted an intimate tea ceremony at Globus Washitsu, bringing together premium matcha from Hioki City in Kagoshima Prefecture and teaware from Chin Jukan, one of Kagoshima's most historic pottery traditions.

A Small Gathering Around Kagoshima Tea Culture

The program was held on July 1 for a small group of guests in the authentic tea room at Globus Washitsu. The ceremony was led by Yoshitsugu Nagano, a professor of the Ueda Soko school of warrior-style tea, creating a setting where participants could experience Kagoshima's tea culture in a focused and personal way.

Representatives from Hioki City introduced four varieties of matcha: Saemidori, Asanoka, Yutakamidori, and Yabukita. Each tea was presented with carefully selected Chin Jukan teaware, allowing guests to encounter both the flavor of Kagoshima tea and the craftsmanship of its ceramic culture.

Connecting Culture With Market Development

In addition to the cultural program, RESOBOX supported business development efforts around the visit by arranging meetings with several matcha-focused cafes in New York. These conversations created promising opportunities to introduce the products to U.S. audiences through retail, food service, and future collaborations.

RESOBOX extends its sincere gratitude to Stephen Globus for making the Globus Washitsu available for this special gathering. The event reflected RESOBOX's broader mission: to create meaningful encounters between Japanese regional culture and New York's creative and business communities.
