Hana Yori Dango: Japanese Sweets Workshop

May 18 @ 7:57 pm

RESOBOX Japanese Cooking Workshop Series #4: Japanese Sweets Workshop

** Check out more of the workshops in this series here!
After this extremely cold and harsh winter, warm spring which will deliver beautiful flowers will come soon. In Japan, there is a proverb “Hana yori dango”, literally meaning “dumplings rather than flowers”. It refers to a preference for practical things rather than aesthetics. (Think of the English phrase, “Pudding before praise”.) As this proverb goes like this, Japanese sweets are delicious and take us captive!

In this workshop led by the instructor Asako Nonaka, you will learn how to cook 3 Japanese confectionaries; tofu mitarashi dango, dorayaki (Japanese red bean pancake), and strawberry daifuku so that you can cook them at home. Let’s enjoy cooking Japanese confectionaries and have a pleasant tea time together.
