Ichigolus Inc. from Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture, a company we are supporting in its expansion into the U.S. market, collaborated with “Eileen’s Special Cheesecake,” a New York-based shop founded in 1974, to sell a limited-time product from March 4 to 6, 2022.
“Eileen’s Special Cheesecake” is a New York delicacy that is a favorite among sweets connoisseurs. In addition to being listed as one of the top cheesecake shops in New York by “Eater” and “TimeOut” magazines, Eileen’s Special Cheesecake was named “BEST CHEESECAKES in AMERICA” by “Food & Wine” in 2019 and is a must-try when visiting New York City. The shop has also been featured in guidebooks and travel blogs around the world.
Our marketing team made an appointment with the owners to promote the “Miyabi’s White” strawberry. The deep sweetness, moderate acidity, and unusual color of this unique strawberry made this collaboration project possible.
Collaboration Cake:“Eileen’s Special Cheesecake with “Miyabi’s White” Japanese Strawberry”
The “Miyabi’s White Cheesecake” is made with a simple cream cheese base, a specialty of Eileen’s Special Cheesecake, topped with a secret strawberry sauce and a piece of “Miyabi’s White,” and finished with rich white chocolate to bring the flavors together.
The soft and light texture of the cream cheese base pairs well with the rich sweetness of “Miyabi’s White” to create a delectable confection.
Three Hundred Sell Out in Just Three Days!
On the sales day, posters introducing “Miyabi’s White” and collaborative products were placed in the shop. Many people who entered the shop bought the collaboration cake out of curiosity, saying, “Do you have strawberries like this?” “I have been curious about this for a long time.” From the second day, inquiries by phone from people who had heard the rumors began pouring in. More than 250 people crowded into the store over the three days.
As a result, we sold 87 pieces on the first day and 170 pieces on the second day. On the final day on Sunday, the last of the 300 items prepared for the event were sold out.
Customers who purchased the product said,
・ “Japanese strawberries are sweeter and tastier than American strawberries.”
・ “I came here today to buy a birthday cake for a friend. I saw these white strawberries for the first time and bought them without a second thought. I can’t wait to go home and eat them with my friends.”
・ “I always come here to buy strawberry cheesecake, but I was attracted to this cheesecake because it was so pretty. I heard that the quantity is limited, so I will come back to buy it again.”
As such, we received many happy comments.
Holly and Bonnie, sisters and owners of the cake store, also commented, “The unique sweetness of Miyabi’s White matches our cheesecake. The event was a great success, and our customers were delighted with this collaboration! We were pleased with the event results and felt that the future potential of “Miyabi’s White” was very promising.”
RESOBOX will continue to focus on promoting “Miyabi’s White” in the U.S., especially in New York. U.S. buyers and restaurant owners interested in sales and menu development, feel free to contact us by email.
