Hagi City Site Visit and Development of Artisan Network Partnership

RESOBOX conducted a comprehensive two-day site visit to Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in April, under the coordination of Naoyuki Murata of Hagi City Hall, to deepen our regional partnership and explore new collaborative opportunities.
Purpose and Background
This site visit was undertaken to assess the current state of Hagi’s traditional crafts and regional industries, and to explore synergies with RESOBOX’s business. Through Murata’s meticulous coordination, we conducted focused visits to key industrial facilities and cultural institutions throughout the region.
Facilities Visited
During the visit, we engaged directly with representatives from the following establishments:
- Chukobee Kamaboko Honten – https://chukobee.co.jp/html/
- Hagi Seamart – https://seamart.jp/seamart/
- Hyakucha Issin – https://futatsugai.jp/kako176/issin/

Future Development
Direct experience with Hagi’s rich artisanal heritage has significantly expanded RESOBOX’s vision for business growth. By witnessing firsthand the exceptional craftsmanship and traditional industries of the region, we have identified multiple concrete opportunities to develop integrated offerings that combine regional craft works—particularly Hagi ceramics—with our own services and products.
Through the cooperation of Murata and Hagi City Hall, RESOBOX has successfully established direct access to the artisan network within Hagi City. This partnership enables us to collaborate directly with local craftspeople and create meaningful opportunities to provide regional craft works to our client companies and customers, opening new avenues for their use and integration.
During the site visit, we also had the opportunity to visit the fragrance exhibition by perfumer Misato Himuro at “Hagi no Yado Tsunemoe” (open through May 28), gathering valuable insights into the region’s creative activities and cultural landscape.
Future Direction
RESOBOX is committed to sustaining a continuous partnership with Hagi City and advancing collaboration with regional artisans. Through this partnership, we will deliver enhanced, value-added services to our clients in New York while supporting the visibility and continued growth of Hagi’s traditional industries.
