RESOBOX brought a kazari-maki (decorative sushi roll) workshop to St. John's University — one of New York's largest and most prominent Catholic universities, with over 150 years of history — together with instructor Hiroyo Belmonte.

Rolling Art on a Historic Campus

Students learned to build colorful patterned rolls step by step, discovering how much design thinking hides inside a single slice of sushi. The energy on campus was wonderful, and the students even produced their own video of the day.

Expanding in Education

At the start of the year we set a goal of bringing more Japanese culture programs to educational institutions — and this workshop is that vision in action. We look forward to meeting more students across New York's campuses.
