On September 19, 2021, we worked with NYK Marketing to put on the “Japanese Pop-Up Shop 8” at RESOBOX East Village.
This popular event showcases accessories, miscellaneous goods, and other works by Japanese people and artists working on Japan-related artwork. The Japanese Pop-Up Shop has been held every three months since 2018, but was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it has made its long-awaited return after a year and 10 months. On the day of the event, there was a line even before the doors opened at noon, and more than 400 people came, making it a great success from start to finish. It was a wonderful opportunity for both the artists and the visitors, who enjoyed interacting and learning from each other.

This time, 24 artists exhibited their works for sale, including Bead Factory Ever Green, whose accessories with origami crane motifs and beads were gorgeous, and AKKANBE, whose works with miniature animals and flowers made of origami trapped in thumb-sized vials charmed the visitors. Delicate freshwater pearl earrings made by the artist “a blue one piece” also attracted a lot of attention.

A Venue for Personal and Professional Growth
“Tear Drop Happy“, which ran one of the booths at the event, is dedicated to improving the mental health of children as well as adults. At the Japanese Pop-Up Shop, they offered a service to make visitors’ illustrations into tin badges, while donating the profits to a children’s protection organization. To their delight, they were approached by a Japanese mental health clinic in New York to collaborate with them and work together for their events.

NYK Marketing was established in New York with the motto of creating an exchange that leads to the next opportunity by allowing individual artists to present their works. They will continue to hold pop-up events in various locations around New York. They are also looking for artists to participate, so please check out their website: http://japanese-artist-popupshop.com/about-us-2/
