RESOBOX visited the contemporary art exhibition “FIRST LAST” by renowned artist Tomokazu Matsuyama, currently on display at Azabudai Hills in Tokyo, on April 21st.

About the Exhibition

Tomokazu Matsuyama is a distinguished contemporary artist based in New York, where he has been active for many years. The exhibition features works that offer particularly rich and meaningful elements for viewers with a New York perspective. During our visit, RESOBOX spent two hours immersed in the exhibition, engaging deeply with the displayed works.

Partnership with MATSUYAMA STUDIO

Collaboration with artists affiliated with MATSUYAMA STUDIO, the New York-based studio founded by Matsuyama, represents an important dimension of RESOBOX’s cultural activities.

We engaged Kazuki Onohara, an artist affiliated with MATSUYAMA STUDIO, to create a mural for our New York retail location. We have also worked with Keiko Fukuda, who serves as instructor for our traditional Japanese ningyo (doll) workshop classes. Additionally, we have facilitated group exhibitions by studio artists in our New York space.

Through our long-standing partnership with the talented artists of MATSUYAMA STUDIO, RESOBOX’s cultural initiatives in New York have been significantly enriched and deepened.

Exhibition Information

The “FIRST LAST” exhibition runs through May 11th at Azabudai Hills in Tokyo. As a New York-based company, we found this exhibition to be particularly meaningful, and we were fortunate to experience this exceptional showcase during our time in Japan.

We cordially invite residents of Japan to visit the exhibition this weekend. The works on display, representing the collective talent of Tomokazu Matsuyama and MATSUYAMA STUDIO, promise to deliver a truly memorable art experience.
